Tindersticks levert met The Waiting Room een album af dat een prachtige soundtrack vormt voor de start van een nieuw jaar. Waar enerzijds melancholie op het album klinkt, als een film van het voorbije jaar, is het anderzijds zowat het vieren van de melancholie dat dit album een dieperliggende levenszin geeft en maakt dat je midden in het leven wilt staan en alles wilt ervaren. Melancholie hoort immers gewoon bij het leven. Net als goede langspelers van Tindersticks. Prachtplaat met een grote P.
