Vlaanderen heeft met jonge pianisten als Bram de Looze en Alex Koo een mooie wereldwijde reputatie opgebouwd in het voortbrengen van belangwekkende nieuwe jazzkrachten. De nog jongere uit Gent afkomstige Orson Claeys sluit zich daar graag bij aan. En met zijn eerste verschenen EP Odyssey To Self maakt hij daar een wel heel mooie stap in. Claeys heeft een mooi vloeiende spelstijl die vol avontuur en energie zit. Op zijn eerste EP klinkt hij gelijk ook al overtuigend en zelfbewust. Daarnaast heeft hij een prima band bij elkaar met Pierre-Antoine Savoyat (trompet & flugelhorn), Akram Ben Romdhane (oud), Jim Monneau (contrabas), Gionata Giardina (drums).
