Eind jaren zeventig  figureerde Jon Dee Graham als gitarist bij The Skunks, zowat de eerste punkrockband in Austin. In dat Texaanse muziekmekka exploreerde hij rootsrock samen met Alejandro Escovedo en zijn broer Javier. The True Believers  combineerden onstuimige gitaarrock met literair getinte songwriting. Nadien werkte Graham nog samen met Jon Doe en The Silos, het project van Walter Salas-Humara, Calvin Russell eb The Gourds. Zijn solowerk ontdekte ik met de vierde langspeler The Great Battle tussen sessie en productiewerk volgden nog een handvol opvolgers tot het in 2015 uitgebrachte Do Not Forget. De wonderen zijn de wereld nog niet uit, in 2019 na een concert in Chicago liet het hart...
