Als je het eerbetoon aan Daniel Johnston uit 2020 niet meerekent, is dit het eerste album van Built to Spill in zeven jaar tijd. De band uit Idaho maakte vooral naam in de periode 1994-1999 maar is eigenlijk nooit langdurig van de radar verdwenen. Dit When the Wind Forgets Your Name is de tiende studioplaat. De wat logge opener Gonna Lose combineert zware gitaren met een typische pakkende, dwarse zangpartij van frontman Doug Martsch.
