Asleep At The Wheel verzeilde na de verhuis vanuit de oorspronkelijke thuishaven in West Virginia via een tussenstop in Californië in Austin. Vanuit het Texaanse muziekmekka dragen ze de erfenis van de Western Swing wereldwijd uit. Daarbij kan je niet om Bob Willis heen, een halve eeuw loodst zanger gitarist Roy Benson zijn combo door de rijke nalatenschap van het  dynamische countrygenre. In een alsmaar wisselende bezetting is Benson de enige overblijvende muzikant van de originele bezetting.
