ECM Records heeft een fijne traditie in solobas-albums. Met Overpass draagt de geweldige Marc Johnson nu ook een erg mooi album aan. Onderhand ook alweer bijna 50 jaar prominent in de jazz aanwezig laat het album zijn magische skills prominent op de voorgrond treden. De muzikant die op zijn 25ste tot het trio van Bill Evans, diens laatste trio, toetrad, heeft een imposant oeuvre opgebouwd en met vrijwel alle groten binnen de jazz of opgetreden op opgenomen.
