Patti Smith is terug en de vele krantenartikelen bewijzen haar nog steeds ongekende populariteit. Geheel terecht overigens! Waar menig cover album toch vooral voorspelbare herhalingsoefeningen van goede songs zijn, zoekt Smith met haar mannen het avontuur en slaagt daarin wonderwel. Over het muzikale verleden en de invloed van Patti Smith op de muziek zullen we het deze keer eens niet hebben. Daar is al zo ontzettend veel over geschreven. Dat Smith altijd wat met covers heeft gehad is ook wel duidelijk. Op haar debuutalbum Horses staat een legendarische interpretatie van Them’s Gloria die door de geweldige energie en heftige tekstaanpassingen ( ‘Jesus died for somebody’s sense but not mine..’) gelijk...
