Tame Impala brengt iedereen van de wijs als ze na het hoog gewaardeerde Lonerism de psychedelische gitaarsound vervangen voor een elektronisch gerichte aanpak. Al is die omschakeling reëel gezien niet eens zo gigantisch groot. De nadruk ligt nog steeds op het hallucinerende effect, alleen is de instrumentatie op Currents totaal veranderd. De benadering is een stuk toegankelijker, en dat er een hitsingle in de geestverruimende lucht hangt is overduidelijk. Die cultklassieker wordt met Let It Happen geschreven, welke niet in de commerciële lijstjes terug te vinden is, maar wel door het alternatieve publiek de terechte waardering krijgt.
