Mag een band die zichzelf met de term chemical beat definieert schaamteloos op het gebied van dance shoppen? Natuurlijk mogen ze dat. Na de tweede Summer Of Love in 1988, gevoed door acid house, volgen al snel de illegale Britse raves. Het wordt allemaal een stuk agressiever en opgefokter. Madchester combineerde de sound met het indie gebeuren waarmee ze zichzelf op de kaart zetten. Uit deze invloeden volgt een uniek dance geluid. Pioniers als The Prodigy, Orbital en The Chemical Brothers behoeden ervoor dat het niet dood bloedt, en zorgen voor een succesvolle doorstart. Laatstgenoemde blijft zichzelf vernieuwen, maar ook daarbij is er op den duur sprake van muzikale bloedarmoede....
