Joe Jackson, de angry young man die het televisie kijkend publiek shockeerde door in 1980 vanuit Pinkpop piss off te roepen. Dezelfde persoon die op dat festival in 1991 ons op een broeierige zomerse set trakteert, waarbij ondertekende aanwezig is. In de tussentijd is er veel gebeurd. Die verbitterende punkhouding past niet echt bij hem, en met de muzikaal meer gevarieerde albums Body and Soul en Night & Day wordt hij door het grote publiek omarmt, en scoort flinke hits met Real Men en Is She Really Going Out With Him?
