St. Vincent, het alter ego van Annie Clark, kruipt op haar zesde album Daddy's Home in de huid van een funkende disco queen. Veel glamour dus en hoge sensuele uithalen. Het straffe erotische dressed in black uiterlijk heeft voor een verloederde aan lager wal geraakte souldiva plaatsgemaakt die je schuchter vanaf de albumhoes toelacht. Gekleed in een armoedige afgedragen bontjas en een stairway to heaven aan ladders in versleten jarretelkousen. Nog steeds sexy, maar dan op de goedkope vintage variant. Ondanks dat ze muzikaal naar de jaren zeventig teruggrijpt, is Daddy's Home zeker niet gedateerd en zelfs stukken chiquer dan de ordinair vlammende MassEducation elektrofunk. De titel is aan haar...
