De Britse tenorsaxofonist Alex Hitchcock wordt al lange tijd en zeer terecht op handen gedragen binnen de Britse jazzscene. En iedereen wil met hem spelen net zoals hij dat met alle andere zo getalenteerde muzikanten wil. Zo ontstond ook het idee om drie avonden in de fameuze Vortex te boeken met drie keer een volledig andere band. Natuurlijk was het een heel slim idee om deze avonden, die plaatsvonden op 9, 10 en 11 augustus 2022, alle drie op te nemen.
