Het Schotse jaren tachtig muziekklimaat levert geweldige resultaten op. De grauwheid van regenstad Glasgow en de weidse geschiedenis van het berggebied vormt genoeg inspiratiestof. Aan de ene kant de stoerdere hoopvolle new wave sound van Simple Minds, Big Country, The Waterboys en Texas, gevolgd door meer melancholische jazzy soul acts als Aztec Camera en The Blue Nile. Tot die laatste groep rekent Deacon Blue zich. De band van vocalisten Lorraine McIntosh en Ricky Ross ontroeren al gelijk met hun prachtige Dignity debuutsingle. Achteraf gezien een van de indrukwekkendste songs uit de jaren tachtig. Het nummer ademt alles uit; verdriet, hoop, werkeloosheid en vooral nostalgie naar gepasseerde jeugdjaren.
