The Delines, het muzikale avontuur van auteur en singer-songwriter Willy Vlautin uit Portland, Oregon met naast multi-instrumentalist Cory Gray en de eveneens uit Richmond Fontaine, Vlautin's vorige band, afkomstige ritmesectie, en zangeres Amy Boone als boegbeeld maakten in een intense muzikale wisselwerking een reeks langspelers die het nachtelijke leven in een beeldrijke, haast cinematografische benadering vatten. Hun laatste album Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom ademde een meer romantische sfeer uit die het leven van oplichters en hopeloos verslaafden beschreef. Met hun nieuwe album The Set Up blijft Vlautin bij die thematiek maar graaft dieper in de dramatische nasleep van gebroken relaties en de ontreddering en eenzaamheid van de betrokkenen. De...
