Begin 1993 kondigt Frank Black op de BBC radio aan dat de Pixies klaar zijn. Heel vervelend dat hij de overige bandleden hier niet eerder eerlijk over inlicht. De onderlinge verhoudingen zijn daarna behoorlijk bekoeld, een domme zet welke vooral Kim Deal hem altijd kwalijk zal nemen. Kim Deal scoort twee jaar eerder al met You and Your Sister als onderdeel van het This Mortal Coil project een flinke hit en maakt na Pixies een succesvolle doorstart met The Breeders.
