The Smashing Pumpkins, die grootste romantische grunge band van weleer, heeft helaas de laatste jaren van zijn onvoorspelbaarheid haast een deugd gemaakt. Maar de originele kompanen Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlain en James Iha komen hier met de resoluut franje- en singleloze lancering van hun dertiende tot ieders verrassing wel met een geweldig coole klapper op de proppen. Met een Corgan bovendien goed bij stem en in een prima productie. Geen oeverloze driedubbele geeuwer meer dus zoals die laatste keer. Neen, gewoon solied tien progressieve songs in een compact behapbare drie kwartiertjes.  Waarin ze bovendien duidelijk weer de lucht van rock en metal diep hebben opgesnoven in plaats van zomaar wat...
