Met Gift from the Trees maakt Mammal Hands, het jazztrio uit Norwich, hun puurste plaat tot nu toe. Gelijk de titel van het album laat de band op hun nieuwe album de effecten over hun instrumenten weg en is het de naturelle samenwerking tussen pianist Nick en zijn saxofoon en klarinet spelende broer Jordan Smart en drummer Jesse Barrett die je hier hoort. De pure sound werkt goed voor het trio. Het zal twijfel te maken hebben met het opvallende duo-project Vega Trails dat Jordan met oud Portico Qurtet bassist Milo Fitzpatrick begonnen is en juist in een volledig akoestische sound plaatsvindt.
