Het is ondertussen vijf jaar geleden dat we Rifles & Rosary Buds, een aan  de nasleep van oorlogssituaties gewijd werkstuk dat met de hulp van partners van teruggekeerde oorlogsveteranen gerealiseerd werd, beluisterden. Evenals op de voorgangers profileert Mary Gauthier zich als een eigentijds troubadour die in haar autobiografische verhalen, de  donkere pijnlijkste momenten in een  bestaan vol ellende geenszins uit de weg gaat. In een niet aflatende zoektocht naar haar identiteit verwerkt ze die herinneringen in emotioneel geladen diep snijdend songwerk in een verfijnd country-noir idioom.
