Enkele jaren geleden toonde Over The Years, een terugblik in het verleden, nog eens fijntjes aan dat Graham Nash die na zijn vertrek bij The Hollies bij het trio Crosby, Stills & Nash figureert van meet af aan een niet te onderschatten inbreng als songwriter bij het trio invult. Dat blijft zo tijdens de kortstondige passage van Neil Young en op de latere duo-projecten met David Crosby. Na het  uiteenvallen van de superformatie brengen de afzonderlijke leden solowerk uit. Op Songs For Beginners verwerkt Nash zijn breuk met Joni Mitchell in wondermooie poëtische songschrijverij als Simple Man en I Used To Be A King, geconnecteerd met de Hollies song King...
