Zijn cruciale in psychedelica doordrenkte gitaarspel is dan wel gewaagder dan die langgerekte huidige panoramavelden. De voorliefde van jaren tachtig Fleetwood Mac werk en Bruce Springsteen songstructuren spelen nog steeds bij Kurt Vile een essentiële songbelevingsrol.
