Elke Guided By Voices plaat is een feestje, al loopt het overaanbod de laatste jaren bijna de spuigaten uit, waardoor er onderhand een allergische Guided By Voices oververmoeidheid ontstaat. Toch levert Robert Pollard met Nowhere to Go but Up weer een ijzersterke plaat af, waarbij vooral de eerste helft zeer aan hun jaren negentig platen memoreert. Sterker nog, kwalitatief niks aan hun hoogtijdagen onderdoen en waarmee ze zich definitief uit die na sudderende schaduw plaatsen. De frontman kiest uiteraard niet voor de gemakkelijkste weg en schuift het minder toegankelijke zwaar psychedelische For the Home als aankondigende recht toe recht aan single naar voren, terwijl er zoveel meer en betere geschikte...
