Met een sexy funky groovende bas kom je tegenwoordig een heel eind. Maar stiekem is het wel heel leuk als de bassist zich als een eigenzinnige relschopper presenteert. Brent Mijnendonckx schuift die hele Belgische erfenis aan de kant en we wanen ons weer net in de tijd van voor de grote dEUS doorbraak, dat het vanuit Nederland opererende Konkurrel label, de een na de andere experimentele artpunk band binnen vist. Denk aan breed vernieuwers als Dog Faced Hermans, Victims Family, Nomeansno, De Kift en Megakronkel. Een zeer interessante periode waarvan The Guru Guru nu bewust, dan wel onbewust de vruchten plukt.
